Live Oak Conservatory announces that it is expanding the ballet segment of its curriculum and has appointed Kristin Bain as Ballet Instructor. Ms. Bain will be teaching the home school ballet junior and senior level classes as well as a beginning ballet class for teens. She also hopes to teach an adult beginner ballet class as well. She may extend her involvement to include jazz.
Kristin studied Cecchetti Ballet at the Betty Fuller School of Performing Arts in Duluth, Minnesota and traveled extensively to neighboring Thunder Bay, Ontario, for certification in this Canadian method of ballet. For over a decade, she was also a tap and jazz student, of the late Al Gilbert of Hollywood, California. Kristin continued her study of dance at the University of Georgia while achieving a BSEd in French Education.
In recent years, she served on the faculty at Premier Gymnastics teaching their elite gymnasts the foundations of ballet which they incorporated into their balance beam and floor routines. Kristin has also applied her teaching skills serving the St. Mark the Evangelist Community teaching second grade in their Faith Formation Religious Education Program.
“My focus will be on the fundamentals of ballet and its relationship to all aspects of dance,” said Kristin. “We will be concentrating on balance, positions of the feet and arms, posture, strengthening the feet, turns and how to spot. This is a tricky one, but important, she added. etc.
